Christ Washing Peter's Feet, Ford Madox Brown

Does your marriage need a boost? Has your marriage and family life become routine; lacking the joy it had when you were newlyweds? You can jump start your marriage and revitalize it by living out one simple truth from Sacred Scripture:

Let love be genuine…outdo one another in showing honor. (Rom 12:9-10)

By living this out this simple truth every day, your marriage will be rejuvenated.

Life can become routine and monotonous. The daily grind can become wearisome and we can begin to take our spouse for granted. To counteract this, find ways to be a blessing to your spouse. Surprise your spouse with little acts of kindness and service. These unexpected acts will rekindle excitement and joy in your relationship.

“…whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Mt 20:26b-28)

Lead by serving your family. Love your spouse with the sacrificial love of Christ. Put the needs of your spouse ahead of your own. Your commitment to outdo your spouse in service will spark new life into your marriage.

I…beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love… (Eph 4:1-2)

Love is sacrifice. Love is doing what is right even when it does not feel very good. Love is meeting the needs of someone else before your own needs. Ask God to give you a servant’s heart and creative ways to be a blessing to your spouse. Let love guide everything you do.

Let all that you do be done in love. (1 Cor 16:14)

Study God’s Word for verses related to love. Read these scriptures until they become woven into the fabric of your very being. As they become an integral part of you, they will be manifested in your thoughts, words and actions.

Do not let love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. (Prv 3:3)

May God bless you richly as you bring the love of Christ to your spouse and your family.
