Veni Creator Spiritus

Do you wish for more patience, gentleness and self-control in your interactions with your spouse? How about kindness, joy, or peace? All of these are fruits of the Holy Spirit and they are yours for the asking!

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, there are 12 fruits that the Holy Spirit wants to grow within us:

The fruits of the Spirit are perfections that the Holy Spirit forms in us as the first fruits of eternal glory. The tradition of the Church lists twelve of them: “charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self- control, chastity.” 1832

For inspiration and greater understanding of how the Holy Spirit works, we highly recommend the video series entitled, The Wild Goose is Loose by Fr. Dave Pivonka. There are 14 videos in the series. The ninth one is devoted to The Fruits of the Holy Spirit.

In this video, Fr. Pivonka says that our lives produce some type of fruit – either works of the flesh such as impurity, jealousy, outbursts of fury, and acts of selfishness (cf. Gal 5:19) or the fruit of the Spirit such as love, peace, patience and generosity (cf. Gal 5:23).

He explains that “The sort of fruit our lives produce has eternal consequences for us personally as well as a profound impact on those people we love. In fact, our fruit impacts all of our relationships, from the most casual to the most intimate.”

We encourage you to watch The Fruits of the Holy Spirit video and spend the remaining days before Pentecost asking the Holy Spirit to give you these fruits. Your spouse, your children and all those you love will thank you for it!

Come Holy Spirit form your fruit within us!
