Two of the Three Fatima Children, Jacinta Marto and Lúcia dos Santos
The Church dedicates the entire month of October to Our Lady of the Rosary. It was during October, 1917 that the last of six apparitions of Our Blessed Mother to three shepherd children occurred at Fátima, Portugal. In her appearances to the children – Lúcia, Francisco, and Jacinta – the Virgin Mary requested conversion, prayer, particularly the recitation of the Rosary, and sacrifices on behalf of sinners.
Ralph Martin, president of Renewal Ministries discussed the urgent message of Fatima during a recent episode of the EWTN TV series The Choices We Face. The TV series began in 1985 and is currently the longest running Catholic television program in the world. We highly recommend that you watch this important message:
The Choices We Face: Fatima’s Urgent Message (aired June 17, 2018)
Unfortunately, many have not heeded the Blessed Mother’s call for prayer and conversion. Now more than ever we need to pray and fast for the salvation of souls. Families are the foundation of our society and they are crumbling. Satan hates families and is out to destroy them. St. Padre Pio called the rosary a powerful weapon against Satan.
Although Francisco and Jacinta died two and three years respectively after the apparitions, Lúcia lived until 2005. She became a Carmelite nun and has been declared Servant of God. When Cardinal Carlo Caffarra was given charge by St. John Paul II to establish the Pontifical Institute for the Studies on Marriage and the Family, he wrote to Sister Lúcia, through her Bishop, asking for her prayers. Cardinal Caffarra received a very long letter from her that included this prophecy: “The final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family.”
Clearly, God’s design for marriage and family is under attack. Satan is striking at the heart of the Christian life. Your prayers are needed to thwart the attacks of the evil one!
If you are not already doing so, we urge you to pray the Rosary daily for peace, unity, and harmony in families. Please join us in imploring the Blessed Mother’s intercession for the healing of divisions and wounds in our homes, neighborhoods, communities and the whole world. What powerful grace would come to the whole world, if families would pray the Rosary together daily.
Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us!
