Never Be Afraid to Trust

We have found that as we make a greater commitment to loving and serving the Lord with all our hearts, minds and strength, the attacks of the Evil One have increased against us. Satan wants to destroy marriage and families because they are an image of the love of the Triune God. Through prayer and discernment, we see that God is calling us to a greater dependence and trust in His loving care and mercy.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. Psalm 37:5

To “commit” ourselves to the Lord, means to entrust everything – our lives, families, finances, jobs, processions – to His control and guidance. To commit ourselves to the Lord means to trust that He can take better care of us than we can ourselves.

In order to develop greater trust in the Lord, we need to spend time in His Word getting to know Him better. When we learn of God’s great love for us, we will find comfort in the knowledge of His presence, love and concern for the things that concern us.

He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

To trust in the Lord is an act of faith that demonstrates our belief that He knows what is best for us. Fret and worry are destructive emotions that reveal a lack of faith that God loves us and cares deeply for us. When we dwell on our problems, we become anxious and fretful. Instead, concentrate on God and His goodness, you will experience His comfort and peace.

The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their refuge in the time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked, and saves them, because they take refuge in him. Psalm 37:39-40

God is the source of your salvation. He alone can bring new life from that which the world calls dead. Take refuge in the Lord, wait patiently for His deliverance, and He most assuredly will give you the desires of your heart. It is difficult to wait patiently for God to act when you want change in your family immediately. But God promises that if you submit to His timing, He will honor you. In the meantime, be patient, steadily doing the work God has called you to do, allowing God to choose the best time to change your circumstances.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that in due time he may exalt you. 1 Peter 5:6

“Humble yourselves” means to submit your life totally to the authority of the Lord God Almighty, Creator of the heavens and the earth. If you find it difficult to submit your life and circumstances to God out of faith, then do it as an act of obedience. God will honor you in your obedience as it demonstrates your love for Him.

And this is love, that we follow his commandments; this is the commandment, as you have heard from the beginning, that you follow love. 2 John 1:6

Apart from God, life loses all meaning. Life is frivolous, fleeting and empty without God. Seek God with all your heart, trusting Him with all your worries and concerns. He loves you dearly and it is His desire to help you in your trials. Trust and obey the God of the universe, for in Him is all true joy and happiness.

…know therefore this day, and lay it to your heart, that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. Therefore you shall keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you this day, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days… Deuteronomy 4:39-40

The God of the universe is working on your behalf today and always. He is in control of your circumstances. Regardless of how things may appear, God is working behind the scenes to work out whatever difficulties you may be facing in your home and family. God honors those who walk in obedience to His commands. Honor Him in this and He will act on your behalf.

Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12

Know that in the midst of your difficulties, God is holding you close. He desires to calm your fears and comfort you in your distress. Trust your life to His loving care. He will not fail you or desert you.

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear or be in dread of them: for it is the Lord your God who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Our prayer today is that you trust more fully in the loving care of the Lord our God. May He comfort you in whatever trial you are facing in your home and marriage. May God bring peace and healing not only to your heart, but also to your home.

Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord! Psalm 31:24

God bless you, O faithful servant of the Lord.
